Winter Olympic Games

 

Every four years, athletes from all over the world come to the Winter Olympic

Games. Each time the event takes place in a different country. In the Olympics,

athletes compete in 7 sports and 15 disciplines.

The Winter Olympic Games begin with the opening ceremony at the Olympic

Stadium. There are shows, songs, fi reworks and then the athletes parade with the

flags of their countries. Millions of people around the world watch the ceremony

on TV.

The winners of the competitions get medals. They get a gold medal for first

place. The gold medalists stand on the highest level of the podium. Everybody

listens to their national anthem. The winners of the second and third places get

silver and bronze medals.

The Winter Olympic Games end with the closing ceremony. It is a big show, but

usually not as spectacular as the opening ceremony.
